Level 1

Aim: Water Familiarisation (Older Children)

Level 1 is designed for children aged 3 years and older who are new to swimming or are not yet confident in the water. This level focuses on building water confidence through water familiarisation activities while introducing fundamental paddling and kicking skills in a safe and supportive environment.

Level 2

Aim: Water Safety

Just a step up from level 1, our level 2 is still an introductory level with a focus on water safety. In this level children will start to swim independently for short distances. At the end of every lesson all children will complete numerous safety falls to learn how to save themselves if they to ever fall into the water.

Level 3

Aim: Basic Freestyle

In Level 3, children begin developing the fundamental skills required for freestyle swimming. This level places a strong emphasis on building effective kicking technique, with the first few weeks of the term focusing primarily on kicking drills, followed by the introduction of “big” freestyle arm movements.

Breathing technique is introduced later in the term, once swimmers have demonstrated confidence and competency in both kicking and freestyle arm actions. This progressive approach helps establish strong foundational skills before incorporating full freestyle coordination.

Level 4

Aim: Freestyle and Backstroke introduction

Building on the skills developed in Level 3, EDS’s Level 4 class focuses on refining freestyle technique, with particular emphasis on mastering breathing and stroke coordination. Swimmers will also be introduced to the fundamentals of backstroke while continuing to strengthen their overall swimming ability. By the end of the term, the goal is for each child to confidently swim 25 metres of both freestyle and backstroke.

Level 5

Aim: Breaststroke introduction

Now that your child can confidently swim 25 metres of both freestyle and backstroke, they are ready to begin learning breaststroke. As breaststroke is one of the more technical swimming strokes, it will be introduced progressively by breaking the skill down into manageable steps. Every child develops at their own pace, so mastering this stroke may take time. With consistent practice and patience, swimmers will gradually build the coordination and technique needed to perform breaststroke with confidence.

Level 6

Aim: Get ready for squad

Equip swimmers with the skills, confidence, and endurance required for a successful transition into the squad program.

Adult LTS and Squad

Whether you’re diving into the pool for the first time, building confidence in the water, or looking to improve your fitness, our Adult Swim Lessons are designed for all abilities.

Or if you ready for the next challenge you can join our Adult Swim Squad on a Tuesday and Thursday morning and enjoy structured training sessions that help you build endurance, refine your technique, and achieve your personal goals.

Holiday Intensives

At the end of Term 1 and 4 we run weekly intensives which are the perfect way to build confidence, improve technique, and accelerate your child’s skill development in a short amount of time. Whether your child is just starting out or looking to refine their strokes, consecutive lessons help reinforce learning and boost progress.

Swimming intensives are ideal for:

  • New swimmers building confidence
  • Children preparing for the next swim level
  • Swimmers wanting to improve stroke technique
  • Families looking for a productive holiday activity
